Very steady flat walk, suitable for everyone including wheelchair users, parking at Matlock bath and walking down to the meadows canal extends the walk out a little more, simply following the river Derwent you can't get lost, lovely views and some heritage along the way

Great café at the wharf and lovely gentle one mile stroll along canal. Best bacon and sausage cobs around at the wharf. You see all the usual wildlife along the banks and if you are lucky you might see more. Yesterday we saw a water vole and a pike. The walk is accessible to everyone, completely flat so just do it. Place to eat and drink at both ends. Followers at both ends to. Just do it.

Great place to sit and relax. Also great for if you want a walk along the canal before or after your drink and or food.... Car park is £3 for 4hrs which we chose and £3.80 all day should you choose to walk further, maybe onto the high peak trail. This starts one mile down the canal at the High Peak Junction..... Cafe has good choice of food and drinks. Also has a little shop for just take away drinks and snacks. Staff in both parts were friendly and helpful which makes the visit more pleasurable..... The cafe has several outdoor covered bench style tables.... You can sit and at the time we were there around 10 mallard ducks and a pair of Canada geese with five goslings right near the tables, which are situated at the side of the canal.
